Education Program Coordinator (Part Time)
Hours: 20/ week
Description: We are hiring a part time Education Program Coordinator. This individual will be responsible for SBCA events and programming including trash cleanups, invasive species removal days, trail work, guided hikes, and tabling events. The program coordinator will plan, promote, and run these events. They will also project manage the development of new educational materials about the Barton Springs Edwards Aquifer. This will include managing meetings, project schedule, communications with project partners, research, and writing. Within our small nonprofit, other tasks may arise including helping with fundraising events and responding to relevant advocacy issues. We are looking for a self-motivated team player with a desire to share their love for the natural world with others.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong research and writing skills
- Strong project management skills
- Able to be productive with minimal supervision
- Ability to understand and interpret hydrology and scientific concepts for a general audience
- Personable and outgoing, able to create community
- Knowledge of environmental issues, Central Texas ecology, aquifer and riparian systems
- Experience leading guided hikes
- Experience leading volunteer groups
- Naturalist skills including plant and animal identification
- Experience in trail building and maintenance
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or relevant field
- 2+ years working in the environmental field
- Physically able to lead hikes (up to 4 miles), lift tabling/outing equipment
- Love being outdoors
- First aid certified
